ANIMAL FETISH - The Fetish is a piece of stone, wood or bone carved into the image of any animal that is desired. It is then decorated with prayer feathers, arrowheads, beads and other notions. The arrow represents the heart line or lifeline of the animal. The Bear is powerful symbol representing strength, good health, wisdom and long life. Bird feathers are used in prayers and healing. Wolf and Fox are hunters. Bighorn sheep has power over rain; it also has sharp vision & hearing. The turtle and beaver are both water symbols. The buffalo is life to many North American tribes. Animals are often honored in the forms of artwork, ceremonial dances and with these little good luck charms call fetishes.
